Neuroprotection (NP, ISSN: 2770-730x) is the world's first international English journal dedicated to the field of neuroprotection and repair of the central and peripheral nervous systems. It is sponsored by the Chinese Medical Association and published by the Chinese Medical Association Journal. The inaugural editor-in-chief of the journal is Academician Ji Xunming, the President of the Beijing Institute for Brain Disorders and the Vice President of Capital Medical University.

In August 2023, the formation of the inaugural Youth Editorial Board for NP Journal was initiated. Dr. Du Chengxue, from the Department of Neurology at the Third Hospital of Xi'an City, affiliated with Northwestern University, was selected as a member of the board. Over a hundred applications from domestic and international young experts in the field were received, and after resume screening, multiple rounds of selection, and comprehensive evaluations, the final list was determined.

NP covers a wide range of fields including neurobiology, neuropharmacology, neurosurgery, neuroimaging, neurorehabilitation, basic neuroscience, spinal surgery, and anesthesiology. It describes the latest advancements and breakthroughs in the field of neuroprotection and nervous system repair. The aim is to provide authoritative reference materials for researchers in the field of neuroprotection, promote the development of the discipline, guide academic innovation and changes in medical diagnosis and treatment approaches, and contribute to the development of treatments for central nervous system diseases in the next generation.

The Department of Neurology at the Third Hospital of Xi'an City, affiliated with Northwestern University, integrates both research and clinical departments. The discipline includes four general wards, a neurointensive care unit, and a specialized functional examination room. It is also a doctoral/master's degree granting institution of Northwestern University. It is a national advanced stroke center, the management unit of Xi'an Stroke Emergency Map, a clinical key specialty of neurological internal medicine in Shaanxi Province, an innovative team for stroke prevention and treatment as part of the Sanqin Scholars Program in Shaanxi Province, a construction unit of the National Health Commission's first batch of neurointervention centers, a construction unit of the national cognitive impairment diagnosis and treatment center, an affiliation with the Xi'an City Neurology Quality Control Center, and a support unit of the Xi'an City Cerebrovascular Disease Prevention and Treatment Center. Academic leaders such as President Tian Ye, Director Chang Mingze, and Director Zhang Gejuan have published numerous high-level academic papers on clinical and basic research in diseases such as cerebrovascular disease, Parkinson's disease, cognitive impairment, and epilepsy. The inclusion of Dr. Du Chengxue as a member of the NP Youth Editorial Board will undoubtedly further contribute to this field.

Dr. Du Chengxue is a medical doctor at the Department of Neurology at the Third Hospital of Xi'an City. His professional expertise lies in the assessment, treatment, and neurobiological mechanisms of Parkinson's disease and cognitive impairment. He serves as a standing committee member of the Chronic Disease Committee of the Shaanxi Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Association, a member of the Neurology Professional Committee of the Shaanxi Health Preservation Association, a member of the Movement Disorders and Epilepsy Committee of the Shaanxi Anti-Epilepsy Association, a member of the Neurology Professional Committee of the Shaanxi International Medical Exchange and Promotion Association, a member of the Neurorehabilitation Committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medicine Association, and a member of the Clinical Professional Branch of the Alzheimer's Disease Prevention and Treatment Association. He has published over 20 academic papers and has led five research projects related to Parkinson's disease, as well as one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation. He has extensive clinical experience in the diagnosis and treatment of common and prevalent diseases such as dizziness, headaches, cerebrovascular disease, Parkinson's disease, and cognitive impairment.
